How Our Solar PV System Works?
At Going Solar, our solar PV system is designed to provide a comprehensive and cost-effective solution for harnessing the sun’s power. Here is how our system works:
PV Panels
Photovoltaic (PV) panels convert sunlight into electricity. Our PV panels are equipped with shingled technology, which improves performance in low-light conditions. The panels use conductive glue to reduce the spacing between cells and increase the active area of the panel.
Inverter
The inverter is responsible for converting the DC electricity produced by the PV panels into AC energy, which can be used in your home or business. It features:
– DC power up to 1.35 ratio
– DC/AC surge protection
– IP65 protection
– High efficiency up to 97.8%
– Smaller and lighter
– Reactive power controller
– Monitoring App for your phone
– WiFi / GPRS Plug optional
Battery System
The battery system stores excess energy generated by the PV panels for use during non-solar periods. It has the following features:
– All-in-one design
– High efficiency up to 97.6%
– IP65 protection so it can be mounted externally
– Monitoring App for your phone
– Digital controller
– DC/AC Surge protection
– Expandable from 5.1kWh to 20.4kWh
Immersion Diverter
The immersion diverter is an eco-friendly device that diverts excess electricity generated by the PV system into a load in your home, such as an immersion heater or underfloor electric heater. It utilises Eddi technology for greater efficiency and control.
Fuse Board
The fuse board connects the solar PV system to your home or business’s electricity supply, ensuring safe and proper functioning.
The Mains
The mains supply allows you to power your home or business with renewable energy generated by PV panels.

FAQs about Solar Panels in Ireland
1. Do you offer grants for PV Solar Panel installation?
We do not offer grants directly, but we can support you with the application process for grants through the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI). The SEAI offers grants of up to €2,400 for PV Panel installations, with a grant value of €900 for 1kWp, €1800 for 2kWp, €2100 for 3kWp and €2400 for a 4kWp system. Contact us for more information on how we can help you apply for these grants.
2. How long does a PV Solar Panel installation take?
The time it takes to install a PV Solar Panel system can vary depending on the size of the system and its location. However, most installations can be completed in 1-2 days. To check our availability, please call us at 01 485 3184, so we can assess the project size and confirm the availability.
3. What kind of maintenance is required for PV Panels?
PV Panels are low-maintenance and require very little upkeep. However, it is essential to ensure that the panels are kept clean and debris-free to ensure optimal performance.
4. What is the difference between PV and solar panels?
PV systems use solar panels to convert solar energy into electricity. In contrast, Solar Panels are composed of several small photovoltaic cells which capture sunlight and transform it into direct current electricity. PV systems are more efficient in producing higher energy levels than Solar Panels due to their larger surface area for absorbing light.
5. Can solar panels be used to heat radiators?
Solar panels can be used to generate electricity, which can be used to power appliances and devices, including heating systems. Some solar thermal systems use solar panels to heat water, which can then be used to heat radiators and other spaces directly.
6. What guarantees do you offer for solar panel systems?
We offer the following guarantees for our solar panel systems:
- Solar Panels: Topco and AESolar offer 15-year warranties for their panels.
- Inverters: KSTAR and Solis offer 5-year warranties with the option to extend to 10 years.
- Schletter Mounting Systems: Schletter provides a 25-year warranty for their mounting systems.
These guarantees provide peace of mind and ensure that your solar panel system is backed by reliable and trusted manufacturers.
7. Is a grid connection necessary with a solar PV system?
A grid connection is usually required for a solar PV system to function properly. It allows you to use solar-generated electricity when available and draw power from the grid when needed.
In rare cases, a battery system may allow a solar PV system to function without a grid connection, but this typically requires additional equipment.
